5 Things You Can Not Do While Studying in China

China is different from other countries in many ways, for most of the foreign students who want to study in China, most importantly China is more restricted than other countries in many aspects. So, here are Study in China Dos and Don’t s for international Students. Your study in China may be jeopardized or even terminated if you don’t know what things to avoid while studying in China, and in order to help international students understand China better before coming, we have listed 5 things you must not get involved with (You need to obey all regulations of universities and laws of China, the following are just some things some international students may do but don’t have idea about the consequences.). Things You Can NOT Do

1: Bring and Stay Overnight with Opposite Sex in Dormitory 
Unless you are allowed by the university to live with your spouse in the university, you cannot bring the opposite sex to your room and stay overnight with him or her. Chinese people are more traditional than western people, and universities in China do want a good study atmosphere and make sure all students are not influenced by this.

2: Class Absenteeism
If you have genuine reasons for being absent from class, and you have informed the teachers and got their permission, then you will be fine. But if you are careless about your studies, prefer to play around or just to have fun, or doing other things, then you will be in big trouble. Low attendance rate will mark you out so serious scrutiny, but also more importantly will negatively affect your academic record in China, and it may affect your future academic pursuits, transfer, and career pursuits. You are suggested to keep an attendance rate higher than at least 95% in case of any problems.

3: Excessive Drinking in University alcohol on campus, especially in the dormitory. Excessive drinking is harmful to your health and will also lead to unwanted outcomes like fights or maybe even worse violent incidents.

4: Having Disputes with the locals
Usually, these disputes are mostly centered around payments and money. You need to confirm price before you order products or services. If you don’t do this but refuse to pay after you have enjoyed services or products then you will face serious consequences, usually people will call the police because of this and this will bring stringent questioning and investigations at the university and your academic career will also be affected. If you think you are being charged an unreasonable price, you can call the police for help, there are a lot of apps you can use to confirm prices of products online before purchase or any transaction involving goods and services.

5: Taking Drugs 
If you know the history of China, you will know why China is so strict with drug abuse, especially for students. And if you read the news in China a lot you will know that there is no exception for the punishment regarding taking drugs, and you will not have a second chance if you are caught. Do not smoke or drink anything from strangers and do not go to nightclubs, in short, do not touch any drugs, otherwise you will regret it in its entirety.

DETERRENT: Being expelled from China, or being imprisoned in some serious cases.
